RESEARCH AND DEVELOPEMENT

UNESCO Regional Office for Sciences in the Arab States established in 1947 in Cairo, strives to foster scientific research and to promote the development of science and technology in the Arab Region. In line with UNESCO’s vision and mission, the Ecology and Earth Science Programme contributes to the implementation of international environmental agreements and policies and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the world Nations. 


The regional office holds leadership in the protection of biodiversity of outstanding global value in the 19 Arab States with 33 Biosphere Reserves that comply with the Statutory Framework of the Man and Biosphere Reserve (MAB) Programme and in the promotion of research and development in the Biosphere Reserves.
